Casey Turns 8

There is an all-time classic song that goes hand in hand with this post so make sure to push play for the full effect.

I have to give a shout out to my great friend Casey, today is her birthday, her REAL birthday! She was born on leap year so she has actually only had 8 real birthdays.  I am proud to say I have been a part of her life for 4 of them!
This first picture is just for those of you who were there...

Have you ever had a friend when the day you met them they just seemed so familiar?  That was Casey to me, we both had a strong feeling that we already knew each other somehow.   I remember her kind of getting mad at me in the first few days after we met because I kept calling her a different name.  It may sound crazy, but I really do think we were great friends before we met in this life at the age of 18.

Casey and I have been through a lot together, and we have been to some amazing places in this world together.  Our first big adventure was when we were 20 years old, we traveled down the Baja in my brother Jake's topless 1970 Bronco with surf boards and backpacks strapped to the roll cage. We camped there on the tip of Baja for a month on Shipwercks Beach...

When we were 21 we lived together with friends on the beautiful island of Maui for the summer...

When we were 22 we went to Costa Rica with friends where we traveled to several surf spots and camped on beaches for a month...  (I'm bummed I can't find my pictures from this trip)

At age 24 we flew over seas to Thailand with 15 of our friends.  We stayed on 3 different islands in the Gulf of Thailand for 20 unforgettable days...

Those are just some of the distant travels we have taken together, I can't even begin to count our numerous camping trips to the desert and to the mountains. We have been room mates, she has been my co worker and boss, she was one of my bridesmaids and I was one of hers.  Not to mention that we set up my brother and her sister who soon after got married.  We have been there for each other through death and birth. Our lives are connected in so many ways.

Life has changed a lot for both of us in the last 5 years.  We have gone from snowboarding daily and traveling often to motherhood, marriage, and business, all for the better of coarse, you have to grow up sometime right?  Change and responsibility have made it so we don't see each other anywhere near as often as we would like, but I hope she knows that her friendship is very special to me.  I love her like a sister and a best friend!

So here's to Casey... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!

One more thing... check out her website, Shea Baby Naturals...  For all you Mama's and friends of Mama's ;)

Oh, that was so fantastic! I am grinning from ear to ear over that girl. What a gem! There's no one like Casey, that's for sure. And I about died laughing over that first picture....I was there, right?
You and Casey have really had one of those friendships that transcends this life. I love that you have found someone like her to experience life's gifts with. I miss her!

Happy Birthday to Casey. It will be interesting in a few years when her kids can say they've had more birthdays than their mom. :) Casey has been a special part of this family for all of us. She is not only a sister to you but also a daughter to me. Isn't it interesting Suz, you always wanted a sister so much as a little girl. As you grew up you acquired those sisters through your own means. You are now surrounded with sisters. Nice post. I love ALL the people who were a part of making you the wonderful woman you are today. Luv ya.

Happy birthday, Casey. Susan, I love this blog. A friendship such as you share with Casey is a rare and precious thing. A friend such as this understands you as well as you understand yourself . . . and sometimes even better. One is blessed to have a connection like this with someone else.

Biggest smile. Casey...such a classic girl (sing it Perry Ferrel style for the full effect).

I just told her about the first time I met her too. Chris brought her into Soundoff, the CD store I worked at. She was in a mini skirt and had long hippie hair. I remember that Chris was running his mouth and she didn't say anything. I thought she was shy.

HA!!!!!!

Amazing all that you guys have been through. I love your extensive travels. I was there for Maui only. What a trip. Remember when we got half way to Hana and I realized that the tent I had packed in my suit case was back at your apartment? So we slept in the freaking RAIN FOREST under a tarp that was rigged up between the Bronco and some trees? Worst night sleep ever.

Happy Birthday CaseyJones! I love you!

No, Jake didn't really comment, I cheated and copy and pasted a couple of email reply's.
I agree that Jake should join the club, but he is pretty good at ignoring these comments we make on here that he should :)
