Zach the Shredder

Today was a very exciting day for us.  It was Zach's first day snowboarding.  He will be in lessons at Brighton every Sunday for the next 5 weeks!
As you can see, it wasn't the best day for taking pictures, it was snowing VERY hard, of coarse, this is nothing new for Zach, just another snowy day!  It was kind of a weird thing for me to just hand my 4 year old over to a snowboard instructor and walk away for 3 hours, I wasn't sure how to feel about it.  Zach could have cared less,  I don't even think he said goodbye to me.  It really made it sink in how big he is getting.  After the lesson his instructor told me he did really good and he is "a very well behaved kid."  Those words are music to a mothers ears.   I couldn't believe it when I walked over to meet him after his lesson and he was zooming down the hill all on his own.  It is amazing how quickly these little 4 year olds learn and adapt to new things.  It's fun to watch, they are just so dang cute on those teeny tiny snowboards!
Cam got to spend the day with grandma this time, but hopefully, if the weather cooperates, we will get him up on the hill one of these days soon.  I think it's safe to say that he will be all about it since everything his big brother does is pretty dang cool!!
Zach said his favorite part was the chair lift.  He says "I jumped off and fell, but I didn't get hurt!"  He had a lot of fun and he can't wait until next week to do it again...  I can't either!

I'm so proud of "My Yaks!!!"
How did he get so big???

What the??? How on earth is Zach big enough to manuever a snowboard? I can't believe it. I wonder how it is for those little tykes to pick it up. I know as a grown up, it's pretty dang hard. So, did you go with Brian and Analisa? How fun, and the snow looks awesome!
Oh, and the good news about putting your kids in a lesson, is you get to ride by yourself for three hours. Oh, the joy!

Les- I was totally amazed at how fast the kids picked it up. I have tried to teach plenty of adults how it's done and these little buddies definetly made it look easier than any adult I have ever seen on their first day. Pretty cool!!

Bryan and Annalisa have Brexton in ski lessons at the same time. Max was in Zach's class too, but he spilled the beans about his real age. They are supposed to be 4, but his birthday isn't for a few more weeks so they gave him the boot! Sad huh! But he will still be up there with us playing in the snow.

And yes, lessons are the way to go! I think they are a little more willing to learn when they can't try to manipulate mom and dad! Plus it is a great excuse for us to get a few runs in :)
