My Yard (before, after, and soon to be)

When we bought this old house 5 years ago.  It was.... hmmmm... how do I put it?  Lets just say, we really had to use our imagination to foresee the possibilities.  The bones were good, the house had a lot of character, but the 1980 remodel was not doing much justice by 2003.  We (mostly Greg) had a lot of work to do before we could move in.  5 months later, his vision became a reality.

BEFORE

AFTER

Today the interior of the house is pretty much the same as we left it 2 1/2 years ago, plus a few dings in the paint and stains on the carpet, but for having been a rental, it's really not that bad.  Outside is a different story.  I wish I had a before picture of the back yard when we bought the house, but we never took one, maybe because it was SO ugly!   Just imagine weeds as tall as I am, that's really all it was, and a few junk piles here and there.   Greg started drawing pictures of his plans for the yard, a few months later, again, his vision was a reality.

THE DECK & YARD AFTER

Now everything in the yard is dead, we are starting from scratch.  In the next few weeks we will rent a BobCat, tear everything out, level it, and start all over from a clean slate.  It's exciting!  I have all of these sketches lying around my house... Greg's master plan!  I LOVE IT, because I've seen his vision become a reality many times before.  I am so ready for the weather to cooperate so we can get started.

I can't believe I am posting this one... but this is what it looks like now SO GROSS!  I can't even stand it!  Now you see why we need a BobCat ;)

Luckily, I still have my wonderful deck, which I love.
Lots of work ahead!  LOTS OF WORK!

You did it once....you can do it again. You had a beautiful yard. Besides all the heavy work that Greg has to do, there's the finishing touches that you are so good at. You have a natural green thumb when it comes to flowers. I can just imagine the beauty that will surround you by next spring. The picture of your deck with all the flowers in bloom is so pretty. It WILL come again.

It is amazing what you and Greg have done to the house already. I love the deck and all the flowers. Thanks for sharing your landscaping plans. How beautiful and peaceful it all will be once you get it finished! While you are waiting, you can still do hanging plants and potted plants on the deck.

I'm so jealous. That is going to look amazing! Keep me posted. (I have a feeling you are going to get a lot further than we will).
