I was driving home on Christmas night, as I came around the corner just before our house there was a deer in the middle of the road. She hopped along side my car until I turned into our driveway. I parked and forgot all about her... as I pulled Cam out of the car I noticed the deer was standing right there, maybe 10 feet away. I walked around to the other side of the car and helped Zach out. The deer came closer. I told Zach to run inside and grab the carrots and make sure Daddy doesn't let the dogs out. So he did, and the deer came even closer. I was now standing on our front porch, the deer was following me and sniffing my pockets! I started feeding her carrots and she acted like she hasn't had anything to eat in months, poor thing, she was scarfing down carrots as fast as I could get them out of the bag. Just then I heard the pitter-patter of hooves, I looked up and there were about a dozen deer running down the road and into our driveway. It was like she sent out some kind of signal that I was handing out food. I wasn't sure weather or not to be afraid. Luckily, none of the rest of them wanted to get as close as she did, but they were all very hungry so I threw them some carrots too. We had cleared our home of all fruits and veggies and she was starting to wear out her welcome so it was time to say good bye, but not before I took a self portrait of me and my new best deer friend.
Isn't she cute?

Maybe it was the reindeer dust we sprinkled around on Christmas Eve!!!
I guess it really does work!?!

What a wonderful world you live in. Your boys are growing up with some amazing memories to share. Not many of us get to experience nature as you guys are. Did you give her a name? Beware of Grandpa Chuck, you remember the Marion saga, right? Thanks for sharing these great pics.

your stories of rockport just keep getting better. you should stay there forever. what an amazing night!
Marion is going to have some competition. I think you had a visit from Santas reindeer.
Yes, I agree, I think Santa's deer were very hungry after their trip around the world. I am thinking this one was Dasher, or maybe it was Dancer. She was very sweet and very friendly. I really wish Rudolph would have been with them, now that would have been a SIGHT! I am sure he was exhausted!!!
:)
you guys live in the nuttiest place!!! almost rivals growing up across the street from heise!
Unfortunately, we don't have a hot spring to dip in when it is bitter cold outside like they do at Heise... How wonderful would that be???
What a Christmas Eve adventure for you and the kids! I'll bet it is a memory you will all treasure.
