Time's a tickin'
We are getting ready for my favorite time of year... Christmas!!!

I tried so hard to wait until Thanksgiving was over, but I didn't quite make it. I just couldn't hold out. I pulled out the Christmas decorations last Monday, I did it out of sheer boredom because Greg was out of town. Plus I know it isn't his favorite thing to do, even though he tries to pretend he enjoys it. It's one of those things... he knows better than to complain because the reaction he gets from me if he does is much worse than the actual work itself. So I decided to go ahead and eliminate that whole thing this year and just do it while he was away. We did wait until he got home to decorate the tree though.

The boys each have their own little tree next to their bed. They had so much fun decorating them this year. They are full of all of their favorite things like dinosaurs, sesame street, and firetrucks. It was so much fun to watch them. Zach was proud to be the big helper and show Cam how it's done. Now if I could just get them to leave the ornaments on the tree. Is this a problem for everyone, or is it just at my house?

It's kind of funny, last year was our first year at Rockport and we were the only house up here with Christmas lights. We thought it was kind of weird and almost wondered if there was some dumb HOA rule against them that we didn't know about. But this year we were totally lagging behind. By Thanksgiving there were already about a dozen houses all decked out and we were starting to feel like slackers. I think we started a trend last year, but now we need to step up our game just to fit in. Greg got up on the roof in the FREEZING cold and put up our lights. I am trying to talk him into putting lights on our huge pine tree next year. It would be so cool. You would be able to see it from miles away. One of my favorite things about Christmas has always been the huge tree all lit up on Main Street in Farmington. Every time we would head to Grandma Jane's at Christmas time we would take Main Street so we could see the big tree. I think it's still there. I always wanted one of my own as a kid and I still do.

It looks like Greg's having fun, doesn't it? He's the BEST! Check out the full moon... It was a COLD, but BEAUTIFUL night!!!

It is a man thing. Jeff hates Christmas duties. He usually pretends to be asleep on the couch and is surprised when he wakes up and sees it done. I usually wait for grandkids to help me. One of my all time favorite things when the kids were young was to sit in the dark in front of the lit up tree and listen to Mannaheim Steam Rollers do Silent Night. I would wait to the end of the song and listen for the sleigh bells. It was one of those peaceful quiet traditions for me even when things in my life were very bad. Try it!

Okay, first, are you wearing a tank top and shorts while decorating the christmas tree? Do you think it's July or something???
Wow, you are so good. It is kindof sad, but I just don't feel like decorating this year. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that nearly everything I own is buried somewhere in the garage, and I don't know where anything is. I love the boys trees, you are so great! I bet they will remember that forever. Did you move Cam into Zach's room? Looks like Christmas at your place, I am jealous.....

I Love it! The light shinning through on the tree looks so cool on that picture. And look at the dinosaurs and Christmas trees in the boys room. I got my dino with a bell and Lightning McQueen hung on my tree. I'm movin real slow with my decorations this year. I'll have to get Brexton over to help, he's always anxious about getting the decorating done. You always have such fun activity posts about your family.

Mary- you made me laugh with the comment about Jeff. I can totally see it. Silent Night is my favorite Xmas song and just today I was thinking about the Manheim Steamroller album my parents used to play when I was younger. I loved it.

Les and Ray- It's not like I was out in the snow. I was inside with a warm crackling fire going.
