Sun, Fun, Friends, and THAI FOOD!

The end of Summer is coming down to the wire, it's inevitable.  But after our great time last weekend I finally feel like I can start to accept that fact.  We met up with a bunch of our friends down at the beach.  I swear we had the cutest pack of rugrats ever seen!  They had a blast playing in the water, burying each other in the sand, eating, drinking, and talking about whatever kids talk about, my guess would be Dinosaurs and Princesses.   While us "grown ups" took turns on the Jet Skis, and just shot the breeze.   After what felt like minutes, but was actually 5 hours later, the cool mountain evening air came over us like a wave and had us packing up as fast as we could.  I'll be honest, I was thinking about dinner and I couldn't wait to get up to my house and get started!

My friend Kanista is from Thailand and she is an awesome cook!  We were fortunate enough to have her cook up some authentic Thai food for us for dinner (and yes, it was no doubt as good as anything I ate in Thailand)  The original plan was that she was going to teach us a few great recipies, but watching Kanista work is like watching a movie in fast forward.  She was zipping all around the kitchen keeping me, Kim and Nicole busy chopping and cleaning.  She had dinner whipped up in about 20 minutes.  While she was doing her best to explain everything as she went, I have to admit, I didn't catch it all. (so Kanista, you really need to post your recipies on your blog so we can try them.) We devoured every last bite of the Tom Yum Soup (mmmm)  Thai shrimp salad w/ glass noodles (mmmmmmmmmmm)  and BBQ pork on a stick w/ sticky rice (MMM MMM MMM)  I am still craving more!   Then, for desert we had the always light and delicious "Score Cake" by Kim!  I have to say, everything was perfect.  From the weather to the kids, to the company, to the food.  It was a great way to say goodbye to summer.  Thanks guys!

Glad the weather cooperated for your gathering. Looks like a really fun way to end summertime. I can hardley believe the beach scene. When we were there the beach did not exist, we were hanging out on weeds. What a difference.

Hugs and kisses to all.

Thanks for all the pictures and for having us up. We had so much fun, Aydin has already been talking about when she gets to see Zach again, so we need to do this more than once a year!

Thanks for your comments on Kona, too. We knew it was coming, so we had prepared for it, but it's still hard to say goodbye. :( We appreciate your thoughts though. Just glad she didn't suffer too long.

That was so fun!! Thanks for having us over. I loved meeting your friends too. They are awesome. I have been dreaming of that food. That was one of the best meals I have ever had. Let's do it again. Maybe we should do a 'welcoming winter' party. There is always an excuse to get together!! I have some pretty funny pictures of Eric and Graig. I don't know if they would be appropriate to post though. Silly boys... Thanks again. love ya.
