Meet the Pets

Most people think we are totally nuts! But we love the zoo that we live in. We are never bored, always entertained. We have 2 German Shephards, a cat, and a parrot...


Roscoe and Nikita
These two are the perfect example of opposites attract. Nikita has never had much luck making friends with other dogs. She is a dominator and very protective of her family. But Roscoe's passive personality must have been what she liked so much about him. All he wants is to be loved. And she was fine with giving up some of the snuggling time. She always hated that anyways. Both of our dogs belonged to other families before us. I guess we are known as suckers for a dog who needs a home.



Leo
Leo is the perfect pet. He pretty much fends for himself. In fact, you are lucky if you see him. He has made 3 moves to new houses during his 5 years of life and he has taken and claimed each new home with no problem. Leo is a true hunter. My favorite Leo story is from when we lived at my parents house and they had a bit of a bat problem, actually a large bat problem. At sunset, when the bats would come swarming out of the attic you could find Leo sitting on the the pitch of the roof swipping at them as they flew out. In the mornings we would find bat carcases on the front porch. I wonder if we ever got any pictures of that... Mom?



Baboo
Whenever I tell people we have a parrot they always ask "Does he drive you nuts?" My answer is always the same. "No, he is pure entertainment." He sings and dances along to music, and he has his favorite songs. He loves Elmo because he can mimic him perfectly. But my favorite thing about Baboo is that he is obbsessed with Roscoe. He will follow Roscoe around all day and say "Hello, Hi" as he plucks out Roscoes whiskers. Roscoe just sits there with a nervouse look on his face and takes it. If I could figure out how to download a video I would put one on. It is Hillarious!!

Baboo past away in August 2007. We really miss having him around.




Our Deer Friends
I can't really claim them as pets, but we have our deer visitors daily. I never knew deer could be so freindly. Some of them will walk right up to us and eat out of our hand. It's pretty cool. The kids just LOVE it!!!

So, this is our animal family. I just realized I wrote a lot more about our pets then I did about ourselves. I'll get to more about us in our future posts.
