In case anyone cares what we are up to... well, for the last few weeks and I am sure for the next month at least, we will be working on our yard.
Holy Cow, what have we gotten ourselves into? Our neighbors all think we are crazy, I can't say I disagree! We have taken it back to the bare bones. Only this time we will do it right and this will be the LAST time we EVER reconstruct and totally re landscape our yard. I just want to be a normal person who sits on the deck in the morning with my coffee and watches the kids play in the grass while I go and pull a few weeds from my flower beds. But today I am getting my coffee down so I can go out and move rocks to make borders and dig trenches for sprinklers. Hopefully, I will get around to replanting some of my flowers that I had to dig up and are now in buckets all over my front porch. I'm sure in the mean time my kids will be making mud rivers and tracking it all through my house!
Don't get me wrong, I love the good hard work and the reward that will someday come from it. But for now, I sort of wish I was Hermione and I could just wave my wand and be done!

I like the big boulders and the rock steps. I can imagine a beautiful back yard with you sipping coffee and the kids playing in the grass. Good Luck with all the hardwork.
FYI, I am sitting on my porch listening to the waterfall, watching the koi swimming around. It will all be worthit. Thge way I see it is we are all in charge of a little tiny piece of the earth and we owe it to the world to make it beautiful. I cannot wait to see the results. And remember that all the heavy lifting and yard work is good for your bones. Women need that.
Mary, your porch sounds wonderful! I have always loved your yard. Our master plans also have a koi pond and waterfall... probably not til Fall or next Spring though. Todays hard work has already paid off! We got a lot done today :) YAY!
Holy Cow quite the undertaking. So tell me is the work ever done? Always something to do aye? But man does it ever look good when your done. Good luck!
Wow, you guys are brave! I can't wait to see the finished product. (But is it ever REALLY finished?) :-) At least your hubby is handy!
Sorry, I haven't checked in here for some time. You guys never sit still! Just imagining the scope of your undertaking has got me pooped! A project that big would probably never get done with Mitch and I.
So, where are you getting those huge boulders and beautiful stones to build the steps? All I see is DOLLAR BILLS when I look at these photos. You guys are amazing! :)
The only thing we have spent any $ on is the rental of the equipment and sprinkler parts. The boulders, rock, and all of the plants are from our Rockport property. One thing about Greg and I is that we never pay a dime for labor. When this is finished we will have a $10,000 new lanscape job for basically nothing! Greg is definetely taking a toll on his body though.
amazing.
